A Typical day in the Goodman household...

One of the blogs that I read (www.kellyskorner.blogspot.com) encouraged each of her readers to write about their typical days...so I guess that it's my turn.

6:00 am - Beep beep beep, yup that's the beeping of my alarm clock, but it's going to get earlier next week as I have vowed to be at the gym at 6 Am!

6:35 - Addison is normally up and perched on my spot in my bed beside her Daddy watching morning cartoons, Daddy is usually grumbling that it's too early Ha!

7:10 - Out the door with lunch in hand headed to Asheville

8:00 - Setting up my room and getting my first patient of the day

8:05 - 12 PM - Patients, patients & lots of them! I am supposed to see one patient every 30 - 45 minutes, so I have to stay on track. During each visit I invite the parent of my patient to come back with their child so that I can talk to the parent about the child's diet, brushing techniques at home and their daily schedule. I first listen to any concerns that the parent has about their child's teeth and then I attempt to get x - rays on every patient that I see & show the child's parent how to effectively brush and floss their child's teeth and then I do a quick cleaning. The child normally sits on my lap for the cleaning, and yes a lot of times they scream, but I try to talk the child through it. After an examination by the dentist & a good fluoride treatment the patient is out the door with a new toothbrush & a shiny new toy, and I head back to my room to finish up my notes & to clean my room up as fast as possible before my next patients appointment.

11Am - Josh is normally dropping off Addison around this time at our babysitter & heading to work himself!

12 PM - lunch time, I normally eat my lunch at work, but sometimes I run errands or make a quick trip to the mall.

1 - 5 PM - More & more patients!

5 PM - I'm usually heading out the door & on my way home, fighting Asheville rush hour traffic!

6 PM - I arrive at Mom's to pick up Addison ( she normally picks up Addie around 4:30 from our baby sitter. I try to make this a quick stop, because I need to hurry home & prepare dinner.

6:15 - Finally home to prepare dinner, I run in and prepare Addison a quick snack to hold her over until dinner is served. Normally, I prepare something the night before so that whatever we are going to eat that night just needs to be thrown into the oven & I only need to prepare a couple of side dishes. We eat lots & lots of leftovers. While whatever is in the oven I do a load of laundry, lay out clothes, or do some type of chore! On a daily basis I always wash all of the dishes (by hand because we don't have a dishwasher) & do a load of laundry. It drives me nuts if the laundry and dishes aren't kept up with!

7PM - Josh is now off of work, but rarely does he come home right after work. Tuesday nights he has school at Fruitland Bible College in Hendersonville, Wednesday nights he has class & on Thursdays he meets with some people at church to pray for his mission trip that he is going on in April. So normally Addison and I eat at this time & she helps me clean up afterwards. Such a sweet girl!

8PM - Daddy is finally home around this time! He eats dinner while Addison and I go off to play in her room & work on some educational things!

8:45 - Bath time for Addison

9:00 - Story and bedtime for Addison

9:00 - 10:00 - Mama time!!! This is my time of the day to do whatever I want to do, although sometimes I am preparing dinner for the next day. Thank goodness for the dvr so that I can record shows & watch them during this time!

10:00 - 10:30 - devotionals and time with hubby

10:30 - lights out for me anyway, Josh normally stays up and does some studying and comes to bed a little after 11.

I know that this is a crazy day, but thank goodness I only work 4 days a week! On Fridays Addison stays home with me and we have fun! Sometimes we go to the Rec Center and go swimming, or go to the library, or just stay at home and play all day...oh and catch up on housework!

icecicles I've ever seen...

It's amazing to me that these icecicles have grown over the past month over our front porch. At night after everyone goes to bed I find myself looking out our front window staring at them. I think that they're beautiful, don't you??

Happy Valentines Day!

As you read in the previous post, Spunky & I celebrated Valentines Day while Addison was away at Aunt Christal's.

So, we celebrated Valentines Day on Saturday by going out to eat to Nick - N - Nates with Addison (we let her pick where she wanted to eat). On Sunday our church services were canceled due to the snow on Friday & Saturday, so we extended our Valentines Day celebrations.

I woke up to a cooked breakfast by my wonderful husband, eggs, muffins & strawberries. It was really really good! I think that he was going to bring it to me in bed, but I got up before he brought it to me (oops!).

We then gave Addison her Valentines Day gift, a hippity hop! She loved it and she has bounced around the house ever since.

I also made some special Valentines Day treats for my little family. I first made strawberries dipped in chocolate, and then I made some cupcakes complete with chocolate icing & sprinkles!

All around, we had a fantastic day! Josh & I don't typically buy Valentines Day gifts for each other (we did when we were dating), we normally just go out. He often buys me flowers throughout the year, but on Valentines Day we normally just enjoy each others company over a romantic dinner & maybe a movie since we don't get to do either of those things very often!
Happy Valentines Day!!

Date Night!

Addison sure was a lucky little girl this week! Last Saturday Aunt Christal (or To-to as she calls her, and we're not sure why) invited her down to Winston - Salem to spend the night & experience her first Ringling Brothers circus! After much thought & prayer her Dad and I let her go, but we missed her a lot while she was gone! From what I can tell, she had a great time, but she did tell me that she was scared of the tigers at the circus, but Loved the acrobats! She even slept really well at Aunt To - to and Uncle Sha's (no, that's not a typo...she calls him Sha).

While she was away, her Dad & I went on a much needed date. We first went and had dinner at The Apollo Flame (where we had our first date) and then we went and saw the movie "Dear John". We had a fantastic time together, and yes we talked about our little one the entire time over dinner.

If you are wondering "Dear John" is a great movie! I have read the book & I still agree that the book is better, but I still really enjoyed the movie.

On Saturday we plan on doing some Valentines Day activities as a family, as we are so happy to have our little girl back home!

January snow storm!

On Friday we were hit with another batch of the white stuff....not as much as the December snow storm, but we still have at least 8 inches or so. It's really difficult to play in because over the top of the snow is about an inch of ice. Hopefully, the ice will melt down so that we can build a snowman!! Enjoy our pics!

A Belated Christmas post...

Contrary to popular belief, the Goodman family has not fallen off of the face of the earth! We've been really really busy lately preparing for Spunky's mission trip, Christmas and we all had a great week off together the week after Christmas. Here's some pictures to sum everything up...

Leaving decorated sugar cookies & eggnog out for Santa! The next morning she went straight over to her table and exclaimed "Santa made a mess"!

I took this picture after Santa made his delivery at our house. Addison recieved a bike, a scooter, a new baby & high chair, an outfit & the pizza that she asked for. In her stocking she recieved some tinkerbell bubble bath, candy, crayons, a coloring book, a bath poof, and jewelery....what more could a girl ask for?? We also gave her some new clothes & a beautiful "Sleeping Beauty" dress & shoes. Spunky gave me some clothes that I wanted, a new Bible, and a gift card to The Gap. I gave him some clothes, a Hollister gift card, and money to get his passport with.

Addison asked Santa numerous times for a pizza & he delivered it!

She loved opening presents!

First Play Date! Addison's friend Lydia from church and dance came over to play. They had a great time playing dolls & dress up!

On New Year's day we took Addison roller skating at the Franklin Skating Rink. She had a blast and did really well!
